the "it" word: change
"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." - Alan Cohen
I haven't posted a personal entry in a while. I have been processing a lot of random thoughts lately because my life seems to be stagnant right now and I know I need to change. But change means being uncomfortable and being stretched and who really wants to go through that? Really?
some areas of consideration:
church
home
job
friends
spare time
hobbies
entertainment
ministry
material possessions
budget
I do. Although uncomfortable, I do want change. Just how that looks, I'm not sure yet. It seems that the change I want always is met with an obstacle in its way. And though I want to press through the obstacles and overcome, I feel like I'm standing in concrete many days and can't make a single step in the direction of change.
One thing that is changing and exciting in my life is the half-marathon. I am continuing to train five to six days a week and seeing some results. The longest distance so far has been four miles, but I'm looking forward to building on that. I was supposed to go to five miles this weekend, but it didn't happen. This goal is truly changing my life and how I spend my time ... it's been a great goal and motivation to work hard at the gym.
There are a lot of areas that need to be shaken up in my life and it will be an interesting year in seeing how that comes about. I'll keep you posted.

The biggest obstacle anyone ever faces is between his/her ears. Luckily, it's the first one you face, and the rest that come along aren't so bad by comparison.

What are you intentionally doing to get yourself outside your comfort zones?
Half-marathon eh? I like to run and work out, and I have run some 5k's, but I'm thinking about running a marathon this year. Or a half! Maybe Chicago...I heard it's a flat course.
Cheers.
