welcome back to the comfort zone

The Compassion bloggers are headed home.

I know what it's like to be in another country, in the midst of total poverty (and yet hope) and see life without all of the comforts of home. I've been there before. And the re-entry process is not an easy one - and it's hard to describe all of the thoughts and emotions one will go through. Each re-entry is different.

So, my prayer today is for the bloggers. That through the process they will learn what God wants for them to learn, and take back to their community what God wants them to take back. I pray for times of silence and the ability to put thoughts into words. And for the ability to communicate and remember. Sometimes remembering is the hardest part.

Pray for the bloggers as they return to the States.

a blog update in the near future??

For a while now I've been thinking about my blog and the lack of purpose or direction or whatever. When I lived in Indonesia things were much more interesting because I was dealing with a different culture on a daily basis and the kids were a pretty consistent source of entertainment. But now I live in America like everybody else and my life's not as exciting ... well, maybe not as blogworthy, that's better. I also hate it when people apologize for stuff like this on their blogs. So, I'm not sorry, just sayin.'

Maybe sometime in the near future I'll make out some goals for this little site of mine. And I'll define it with words other than Asia and Chocolate, which don't say much about me, they're just two of my favorite things. I need a missions statement, or definitions, or something. In other words, I'm trying to put my blog in a box ... a flexible one, though. But I don't want too many time restrictions on when this will get done because that's just too much commitment for me.

In non-blog news: I'm feeling better today and going to The Palm with work tonight. Have I ever mentioned that I get some great perks at work? See this post for some elaboration.

To the McCreary's patron who met my brother (and knew he was my brother because his T-shirt was from Jakarta) ... who art thou? :) Just curious, and find it funny how these blogs work to bring strangers together.

to the South he comes ...

Wow! Today we found out that our favorite blogger (Los) is moving to Atlanta to be the worship leader at Buckhead Church in Atlanta. That is so exciting (because it's always exciting when God calls people to new things and ...) because when I go visit Jonathan and Emily now we can go there and meet him! :) Just kidding. Well, I really would do that, but it's just so cool that he's going to be in ATL now. My aunt and uncle go to Buckhead ... and so they are in for a real treat.  Jonathan and Emily haven't decided where they are going to church yet, but regardless we are so visiting there when I go to visit them ... wonder when he moves?

UPDATE: According to our friend Hale-Yeah (one of Los' real-life friends) he won't be the worship leader, but the creative director AND he's moving next month. YAY!

Silence can say more than a thousand words.

This day shall unite us all about this unbelievable painful & shocking event and show some respect and love to those who lost their loved ones. On April 30th 2007, the blogosphere will hold a One-Day Blog Silence in honor of the victims at Virginia Tech.  More then 30 died at the US college massacre. But it´s not only about them. Many bloggers have responded and asked about all the other victims of our world. All the people who die every day. What about them? This day can be a symbol of support to all the victims of our world! All you have to do is spread the word about it and post the graphic on your blog on 30th April 2007. No words and no comments. Just respect, reflect and empathy.
