Spin class today was awesome. It was a new guy named Lucky who was a great instructor and the 60 minutes we were in class were hard, but great. There are a lot of different spin instructors at the gym - some we like a lot and some not so much. There's one girl we call satan spin girl because she's quite abusive. One day she threatened to get off her bike if we didn't spin faster. Yikes! And then there are the communicator instructors, which we love. They encourage and explain as the class proceeds. It's great to be in a spin class where you are pushed, but not threatened. :) And then there are the instructors who basically just provide the music and a few instructions. They don't necessarily push you, but just are there to guide you. I prefer to be pushed.
The music plays a big part in the class too. The more current, more hip hop, the better in my opinion. The other day one instructor played all 80's music because she doesn't like hip hop. 80's music in no way inspires me to spin faster. Needless to day I won't be going to her class tomorrow.
No, tomorrow I'll be walking/running 4 miles at the park - praying for the rain to hold off. And then next week my distances will begin to increase again. And I'll get my new iPod shuffle on Monday, so I'll be ready to go next weekend.
Check out Jenn's take on spin and some of her music choices.
My favorite work out song right now is Work That by Mary J. Blige.
